September was a busy month on (finn)horse events, both trotting and riding. Besides those I got to do more personal blogging and a few art & culture posts, which seem to interest visitors in the blogosphere, at least according to statistics. My translations on work horse clubs “Horse of the month” -articles (e.g. this month “Vinpotar the versatile”) seem also to be quite interesting, should there be more posts like those? These polls are here just to make your work easier on suggesting what kind of posts would be good or better to interest you, the reader. Remember that constructive comments are always welcome.
Finnhorse’s brand

Suomenhevosesta voisi tulla vientibrändi islanninhevosen tapaan, was the headline on Yle.fi. The article says that finnhorse could become a brand, just like Icelandic horse is. The biggest problem is the amount of finnhorses -there are only about 1300 foals born every year. It would take more active breeding horses and marketing, the horse itself already has the traits to make it interesting.

Personnally I agree with Markku Saastamoinen, researcher of Finnish agriculture, who was interviewed for the article. He says that finnhorses have potential but so far the population is small for exporting and the Finns haven’t even actually tried to sell them abroad. I know a small population of finnhorses in Germany and one horse that lives in Sweden, but practically great majority, all the rest, finnhorses are found between Finland’s borders. They would be fit for amateur riders, as family horses and riding schools, riding holidays, etc.

This time I would like to know more about you -do you have a horse of your own?
I have one 7-year old finnhorse mare (our covergirl at facebook by the way ;) ). For the past few months I have been schooling her for riding, and maybe some day we will have a comeback at harness races too… How about you?

Where are you from?
I’m really interested -so far the Finns have been the most active visitors in my blog, though there has been an increasing number of foreign visitors too. I’m very pleased to see that there had been visitors from 13 different countries in May before moving the blog to wordpress! :D
WP just seems to lack one cool thing that Vuodatus had -telling where the visitors were from (if it wasn’t set to Unknown). Or then I just can’t find it yet. Anyhow, it would be great if you told me where you come from. In the comment field you may tell the exact country. :)
