A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves-strong, powerful, beautiful-and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.

Me and my horse
How Finnish people are seen by others: silent, but loyal, honest, humble, good workers, fun and friendly personas once you get to know them, and they have that northern, arctic, Scandinavian strength and calmness in their presence. And that’s exactly how Finnish people also refer to their own horse breed, the finnhorse (also referred as Finn horse, Finnish horse, Finnish universal, in Finnish suomenhevonen).
National Treasure is a blog written by a Finnish media student and finnhorse enthusiast, aiming to provide information about this multipurpose horse breed in English, in all its variety -as a historical and cultural figure, modern sport horse, friend and a companion. This blog is my tribute for the national horse of Finland.
Suggestions and/or questions?
I am constantly collecting material for new articles as well as video and photo posts. If you have a suggestion for a topic or a question about finnhorses you would want to find an answer, you can send me an e-mail or use the form below. Also, if you like photographing and making videos and would like me to share your work with a few hundred weekly visitors providing a link back to your site, just leave your link and contact details and I’ll contact you.
